A strong advocate of green architecture, Nashik-based Sanjay Patil strives to work towards an environment conscious design that is inspired from nature and Indian traditions. His efforts to bring about a smooth amalgamation between the two has given rise to a design style that is uniquely his. Patil founded Environ Planners in Nashik after graduating from Sir JJ School of Architecture in 1981. Through the years, he has designed diverse projects under institutional, industrial, residential and commercial categories. With each project, he tries to uphold the principles of sustainable architecture, in turn creating spaces that stand out for their distinct identity. Patil has been nominated for the Aga Khan Award for the Mahirawani farmhouse project in Nashik and has also been awarded the Building of the Year Award by the Builder’s Association of Nashik for his design for the NDMVP College of Engineering. Another of Patil’s noteworthy projects is the Beyond Resort at Sula Vineyards where the surrounding landscape plays a vital role in the design of the luxury hotel.
